I heard good things about WAR MACHINE on Netflix, and I love big, dumb 1980s-style macho action movies, especially ones with giant robots. And I have to say…. it absolutely delivered. Starring “the huge dude” from REACHER and more fervent USA mil-patriotism than your average Micheal Bay movie, this is a pure put-your-brain-in-neutral-mode delight. Admittedly, feeling a bit more of a guilty pleasure given the cringey real-life military misadventures that are currently being done in the name of Donald “I-can’t-believe-they-didn’t-give-me-the-Nobel-Peace-Prize” Trump.

But hopefully the real-life madness will end soon, and we can go back to enjoying these 80s throwback movies as the ridiculous power fantasies they are. Harmless entertainment. Like playing with GI Joe dolls in the sandpit but with more gore.
