Managed to see COMPANION tonight at the cinema, and I’m so glad I caught it on the big screen. It’s a darkly funny horror film about coercive toxic relationships with a fun sci-fi twist, very BLACK MIRROR – but that’s no bad thing. It would be criminal to spoil any of the twists and turns, so avoid all trailers (and I certainly won’t say any more story details than that!)

Sophie Thatcher is absolutely fantastic as the lead. I loved her in HERETIC (and YELLOWJACKETS) and this is possibly her best role so far. She really takes you on a journey, as she navigates a disturbingly unhealthy relationship with her “boyfriend” played by Jack Quaid. A bit like the sublime STRANGE DARLING, it’s one of those movies that delights in subverting expectations. So… yeah, go and see it already! It’s a perfect anti-Valentine’s Day movie 🙂

The verdict 8/10 Excellent
