Well, OBSESSION is quite the wild ride. Easily the best horror film I’ve seen so far this year, this film absolutely demands to be seen in a crowded cinema so you can all collectively ooh and ahh your way through every wince-inducing, nerve-shredding moment.

OBSESSION (2026) poster

No spoilers at all, obviously. It’s a classic monkey’s-paw-style setup, but the payoff is dark and delicious, and elevated by an absolutely show-stopping performance by Inde Navarette, who plays a character literally losing her mind to forces outside her control, becoming a truly terrifying and primal male fear. If it had come out a few months earlier, it would have made a perfect anti-Valentines day movie.

Sharply written and smartly directed by Curry Barker, it’s a film that’s incredibly fun to dissect afterwards (which obviously I can’t do without spoiling it) and there’s lots of interesting layered themes in there. It’s also just so damn relatable, for anyone who’s ever been in a relationship or pined for someone or something they really, deep down, knew wasn’t right! But it’s also a full-blooded shocker, with some deeply gruesome moments that hit me just as hard as my favourite Horror of last year – BRING HER BACK.

Anyway, to sum up, if you’re a horror fan or just like seeing incredibly messed up relationships on film – go and see it immediately. It really hit the spot for me. And I can’t wait to see what Curry Barker does next!
