Pleased to report that PROJECT HAIL MARY is an excellent adaptation of the (wonderful) book. A charming, uplifting movie and god – it’s one sorely needed right now amongst all these depressing news headlines. Ryan Gosling was pretty much perfect casting as Rylan Grace. And his non-human co-star is just perfectly realised through seamless use of puppetry and digital compositing. The space scenes looked absolutely beautiful, it’s full of heart. And while it may not have quite the same level of spectacle as something like INTERSTELLAR, it makes up for it with warmth, charm (and much better science!)
Highly recommended for just about anyone. It’s quite a long movie, but it really zips along. Go see it on a big screen!
