This will be a super-short review as I have a ton of work on at the moment, But I saw this last night and thought it deserved a bit of a signal boost as it really is a lot of (vicious) fun!

In it, a dweeby loser finds himself accidentally stumbling across a self-help meeting for serial killers. He has to bluff his way out of a very sticky situation – before they realise he’s not one of them. It’s a great setup and the movie has a lot of fun playing with the archetypes of movie serial killers.

The style is retro 80s, with vibrant use of neon colour and a pounding synth score. The script is witty and well-observed, with likeable and interesting characters. They may be stereotypes, but the script, direction and (of course) the excellent cast really make you buy into it. Special shout out to the hilarious OTT cops in the movie – I was almost crying with laughter in some of their scenes.

It was a perfect beer-n-pizza movie, and it’s such a shame it came out in pandemic-hit 2020 as I”m sure otherwise it would have been an awesome hit at Frightfest.

Anyway, it’s on Shudder. Excellent fun – 8/10

The verdict 8/10 Excellent
